Holy Spirit School, Session 20: "The One Who Keeps You"

“The church has been sleeping, but she is awake and putting on her armor now and marching triumphantly. But do not make a mistake, God cannot do a great work through you without doing a great work in you first.” —-Evan Roberts 1904

Unity is all about Jesus. Jesus in you and Jesus in me is perfect unity. If I see Jesus in you, I won’t put you down and judge you. Unity in the body of Christ is not agreement. True Unity is only realized in the spiritual and it only comes from our common Savior, Jesus. It is Jesus that makes us one.

As you take time to pursue Him in prayer, in the Word, and in an awareness of the Presence of the Holy Spirit, you are increasing unity in the body of Christ. When we let Jesus heal our heart, then we can be unified more perfectly as a church. When the body of Christ is unified, we march in unity and the whole world is taken in with the image of Jesus. So the little moments we have under the influence of the Holy Spirit are actually gigantic.

You no longer belong to the world. The thief and enemy has no claim on you.

“…Be transformed as you embrace the glorious Christ within as your new life and live in union with Him! For God has re-created you all over again in His perfect righteousness, and you now belong to Him in the realm of true holiness. So discard every form of dishonesty and lying so that you will be known as one who always speaks the truth, for we all belong to one another.” Ephesians 4:24-25 TPT

We don’t belong to the world. We belong to one another. What if we always saw Christ in one another. Would we judge, hate, argue with, be jealous of, curse, or mock Christ?

Unity conquers the works of darkness.

The work that the Holy Spirit is accomplishing within you is bringing all of us into unity. When He addresses any fear within you with the truth, you are set free from a self-focused life. This makes you free to love others.

When you make the choice to attach your believing heart to the truth (John 17:6), the Word of God begins to sanctify you and clean your heart (John 17:17). You are washed clean and made holy in God’s perfect purpose for you. The process of sanctification is happening right now in you, as you listen to the Holy Spirit, listen to the Word of God, listen to His counsel and comfort…Sanctification is a moving, breathing life-force in you. That force is the Holy Spirit. He is personally bringing you into a reality and experience of sanctification that sets you free.

The Holy Spirit is given to you. He is the One that keeps you. He keeps you holy and sanctified. You now live in His realm and His reality: the realm of holiness. He is keeping you holy. Re-read John 16:13.

When you became a believer in Jesus Christ, you were justified, and because of this, you are continually sanctified. Let’s clarify these very “Christian” terms. Justified, simply stated, means you are forgiven and Jesus’ righteousness (His holiness) is released over you. This is a complete work. It is finished. Sanctification on the other hand is a process led by the Holy Spirit. The truth continuously sanctifies us.

(Please listen to the recording concerning this very important point. Starting at 17:00-24:00)

By grace you have been saved by faith. Nothing you did could ever earn this salvation for it was the love gift from God that brought us to Christ (Ephesians 2:8). Your justification is a sealed deal. Adopted, done. Child of God, done. Forgiven, done.

Justified= Identity changed.

Sanctified= Identity experienced.

The Holy Spirit leads an ongoing process of sanctification which is an inward work seen by the world outwardly. As you yield to this work, you release the fear of not being good enough. You are led into union with Jesus and led out of union with the world. In addition, you are led out of union with consecrating yourself perfect and holy.

The new wineskin Jesus (Matthew 9:17) talks about is freedom in Christ. The new wineskin is your heart. Nothing is holding you back…nothing is impossible. It is answered prayer beyond your wildest imagination. It is the new heart of a believer, the new wineskin, where God Himself lives.

Self-condemnation, punishing yourself, judging yourself harshly, consecrating yourself with good works is old wine and it is not meant for the new wineskin.

Nature VS Nurture

When we became believers, we received a new nature. God beautifully brought the nature of Jesus and our God-given nature(Psalm 139) together into a new life. The Holy Spirit is the perfect-parenting influence to nurture us in our new identity. To nurture is to bring nourishment and He nourishes us with truth every moment when we let Him.

Please take a quiet moment in the car or when you are settling down for the evening and play this session. The Spirit was all over it!

I hope it blesses you.

Blessings,

Pastor Teresa
